CONCORD MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH (CONCORD CHURCH) AWARDED GRANT FROM UNITED WAY OF METROPOLITAN DALLAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000.00 TO SUPPORT THE HARMONY CDC FOOD PANTRY WHICH IS A PROGRAM PROVIDED BY HARMONY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Concord Missionary Baptist Church (Concord Church) was awarded a grant from United Way of Metropolitan Dallas in the amount of $25,000.00 to support the Harmony CDC Food Pantry which is a program provided by Harmony Community Development Corporation. The Harmony Food Pantry provides healthy, nutritionally balanced and quality food to individuals and families in need. Harmony’s focus is to ensure that people are provided meals needed and nutritional facts for ongoing support. “The funds provided by United Way will allow us to continue serving an average of 250 families per month” said Pastor Mark Porter, Executive Director, Harmony Community Development Center.
Harmony CDC clients receive an average of 25 pounds of food per person which equates to five days of food for an average person, per the guidelines provided by North Texas Food Bank. In addition, clients have access to other resources including employment opportunities, government assisted programs (i.e. TANF, SNAP, CHIPS), free GED classes, weatherization programs and other community events that may be beneficial to them.
