Parenting with a Purpose Launch Party

Saturday, February 27, 2016, Parenting with a Purpose a 501(c)(3) will celebrate the launch of their new website and 2016 initiatives held at the Savoye Clubhouse, 3850 Vitruvian Way Addison, TX 75001 at 7:00 p.m. Parenting with a Purpose is an organization that builds meaningful long lasting relationships with teen moms and their children as a response to the growing number of youth that are either teen parents or at risk for teen pregnancy.

Parenting with a Purpose was conceptualized in 2012 by Celicia Smith, a former Co-Founder of The Crumb Program (Children’s Resources that Undeniably Moved Boundaries) servicing under privileged youth. After two years of service with The Crumb Program, Celicia decided to follow her passion and established an organization devoted to teen moms. Parenting with a Purpose was birthed in 2014. Within the first 18 months, the organization built a client database, secured donors, and collaborated with other organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In 2015, the organization more vibrantly emerged when it began to partner with well-known organizations and obtaining benefactor status amongst local philanthropists.

The organization is poised for greatness in 2016. We are extending our support to co-op programs and implementing a scholarship program for high school graduates aspiring to continue their education. Parenting with a Purpose also includes the following programs.

Parent Meetings – Monthly Meeting

Parental involvement from the parents and guardians responsible for teen mothers is vital to the success of our programs. We organize and host a monthly parent meeting support group. During our parent meetings, we acknowledge and celebrate teen moms as well as involve parents and guardians of teen moms in activities provided by Parenting with a Purpose. We encourage parents to help motivate teen moms to reach for the moon!

Monthly Family Bonding

Family Bonding is a part of Parenting with a Purpose mentor support and involvement experience. It allows board members, mentors, volunteers, and young moms to have fun and learn in a comfortable environment. We have monthly themes and discuss various life topics that our teen moms will encounter. It is not uncommon to have guest speakers, food, games, and breakout sessions during our time of bonding. Family Bonding occur the second Sunday of the month March through September.

Expand Our Horizons – Monthly Cultural Outings

Exposing teen moms to the arts and cultural is crucial to their social and emotional success. The goal of this program is to introduce participants to different experiences, expand their mindset and imagination through arts, music, and culture. This is done via workshops and field trips.
